Ryan Province SPS Activities Director
Activities Director Welcome
Welcome Bulldog Nation!
It is my honor to represent the school and community of Shelton as your Activities Director. My vision for the Shelton Bulldog Activities program is simple: "Build character and compete at the highest level". Such an approach brings successes both on and off the playing field and holds them in high regards.
The activity program of Shelton High School is a vital part of the educational system. Our goal is to participate in such a way that we bring honor to our students, our school, and our community.
We believe that the purpose of co-curricular activities is to offer young people effective laboratory methods for development of high ideals of sportsmanship, qualities of cooperation, courage, unselfishness, and self control, desires for clean healthful living, and respect for wise discipline and authority. These characteristics properly instilled will have a long carry-over and will aid each individual connected with co-curricular activities to become a better citizen.
A co-curricular activity shall be defined as any activity involving students of the Shelton Public School, outside of the established academic discipline, at which public attendance is encouraged, or contests involving students from other schools. Co-curricular activities include but are not limited to athletics, vocal music, band and dramatics.
Participation in co-curricular activities is considered an extension of, but separate from, the regular school program. Regular school curriculum is a right afforded to each student, but participation in our extracurricular program is a privilege that carries certain expectations beyond those found in the normal classroom activities. Using our guiding principles, participants in co-curricular activities will work to become the best versions of themselves while carrying those expectations. Our expectations are that our student-athlete's carry themselves and compete with Determination, Accountability, strong Work ethic, Grit, and Sacrifice...like DAWGS!
